CHAMPS is an application for young people who have had a psychotic episode, use cannabis and would like to reduce the negative consequences of their use.
Using Cannabis is sometimes a nice experience but in other times it is not. CHAMPS helps to better understand how to use cannabis and to think about strategies which promote a safe and balanced consumption while reducing the negative consequences. For example, some strategies may aim to change the type of cannabis used or the timing of consumption.
CHAMPS allows to:
- Evaluate and reflect on your cannabis use practises,
- Learn 17 strategies for safe cannabis use,
- Set a SMART consumption goal,
- Adjust the objective and the tools identified.
The app also features articles and videos, including how to resist craving, link between cannabis and psychosis and testimonials from young people.
CHAMPS is based on clinical evidence such as protective behavioural strategies for marijuana and motivational interviewing. The application is an e-intervention developed by the Research team of Psychiatrist Dr. Didier Jutras-Aswad from the Research Center of the Centre hospitalier de lUniversité de Montréal, in close collaboration with patient partners.
